The Origin (1980s)

On our mother's side, we come from a family with a long tradition in olive cultivation.

As children, we spent every weekend in the village with our grandparents. Our grandfather taught our father—who had little agricultural experience—about his olive trees and crops, sharing his perspective on farming.

By the mid-1980s, our father took a bold step. With some savings, limited experience, and a lot of enthusiasm, he purchased a semi-abandoned estate with a declining olive grove and a farmhouse in need of major restoration.

The Effort: Study and Hard Work (1990s)

With our mother's support, our father began transforming the olive grove, studying the best irrigation and fertilization techniques and building an agricultural shed for tools and machinery. These were years of intense work.

We used to take the olives to cooperatives in nearby towns—Puente Genil and Badolatosa. Our father often felt frustrated because he believed he delivered olives of exceptional quality, yet the cooperatives paid him the same price as other farmers with less carefully tended fruit.

The Olive Mill: Creating Our Own Oil (2000s)

Since the cooperatives did not recognize the quality of our father's olives, he convinced our mother to start their own olive mill. Their goal was clear: produce high-quality, single-variety extra virgin olive oils exclusively from their estate. At the time, very few producers were making single-variety oils.

The first oil came from the 1999-2000 harvest. Confidently, our father submitted the Arbequina oil to the Ministry of Agriculture contest for the Best Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oil—and to everyone's surprise, it won first prize in the "ripe fruity" category. Since then, our oils have earned additional awards, including Expoliva, Diputación de Córdoba, and OliveJapan.

The Challenge: Marketing (2010s)

At first, we naïvely believed that such accolades would make selling the oil easy. Reality taught us otherwise.

We have learned that building a presence in the market takes time. Our goal is to connect directly with the people who enjoy our oils and hear their feedback. For this, the internet has become an invaluable tool.

We are also excited about exporting our oils to other countries within the European Union.

“ Amazing Quality! ”
Dear people of Las Valdesas, Before I bought here, I always bought the better 'cold pressed olive oil' in the supermarket, what a difference this is... The difference is so big, it was almost shocking... The taste is extremely better than the supermarket oil..., and for baking the oil from here is also very superior. After using the Manzanilla oil en the Picual oil for 9 months I will never buy olive oil in the supermarket again and I will become a regular customer here, I'm very happy I found Las Valdesas Also; The buying and shipping process is very clear and my order was delivered in 5 days from Spain to the Netherlands Hans

“ Tasted all of them ”
This quintet offers a fascinating journey through Spanish terroir. The Arbequina impresses with its velvety texture and mild sweetness, while the Manzanilla builds an aromatic bridge. Hojiblanca and Frantoio convince as balanced all-rounders with grassy notes and fine piquancy. The highlight for bold pairings is the Picual: its intense pungency and striking bitterness balance harmonize perfectly with rustic aubergines. In the experiment with mint and garlic, the high textural density of the unfiltered oils is evident, gaining a complex, softer finish through the dash of Arbequina—an excellent example of successful aromatic layering.
